Campeche-Dumay is a semi-rural community that is home to more than five thousand people in the mountains east of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. Tallahassee-Haiti Medical Team founder Dr. Woodrow Smith has been involved with the community for over a decade.
Since 2010, THMT has officially partnered with the Bethel Foundation, a prominent Haitian Christian organization, to serve the community’s medical needs. The Bethel Foundation constructed the small medical clinic building in 1990 and also operates a church and school in the village.
Most villagers in Campeche-Dumay live in debilitating poverty, but through assistance programs started by the Bethel Foundation,
medical clinics offered by the Tallahassee-Haiti Medical Team, and a water purification project funded by the Rotary Club, the welfare of the entire community is improving.
